Within each school students will experience a variety of different sports throughout key stage3/4, with the aim of allowing our students to grow as they further their knowledge and understanding in all areas of sport. Individual and team sports will allow students to work all manner of skills and tactics from the foundation/ basics, through to high level skills and tactics.
The emphasis in PE in Key Stage 3/4is on inspiring children to excel in competitive sport and other physically demanding activities. Pupils are expected to develop their health and fitness, alongside qualities like teamwork, character and respect through competing in sports. It’s critical that the school’s PE programme prepares pupils for a lifetime of fitness activity.
Key stage 3 students will get the opportunity to explore as many sports as possible within our schools to allow them to make the best decision for them as to the academic programmes that will be right for their development. Within Key stage 3 skills, tactics and key words are all filtered into lessons to give student the insight into what Key stage 4 would be like before they pick it as an option.
The focus in key stage 3 for us is too really in bed those key skills and tactics for a range of sports to give students a solid foundation to which to push on from as they grow within the City of Birmingham School
